AEW is back today (Sun., May 24, 2026) from New York City with its eighth edition of the company’s original PPV, Double or Nothing. This year’s event comes our way from Louis Armstrong Arena in Queens. Double or Nothing gets started with The Buy In pre-show that streams and many of AEW’s other online channels, as well as via their PPV partners. It will also an hour before it’s scheduled to go live. There are three matches scheduled for The Buy In as of this writing; the pre-show starts at 8 p.m. ET.
It seems that storylines involving baldness are a common motif in AEW. Wheeler Yuta of the Death Riders got shaven “bald” by Toni Storm and Orange Cassidy in February 2026, Chris Jericho has been roasting Ricochet for being “bald” in their Stadium Stampede feud, and Darby Allin now wants to shave MJF “bald” in a title vs. hair match in the main event of AEW Double or Nothing 2026. Other than the Owen Hart Tournament, Tony Khan’s “triple main event” features Darby Allin (c) vs. MJF for the AEW World Title, Thekla (c) vs. Kris Statlander vs. Hikaru Shida vs. Jamie Hayter for the AEW World Title, and FTR (c) vs. Adam Copeland and Christian Cage for the AEW Tag Titles. Here are the AEW Double or Nothing 2026 Predictions to kick off Memorial Day Weekend.
“When you’re born, you look like your family. When you die, you look like your choices.” This is the quote Christian Cage blurted out on the go-home show. FTR dropped Beth Copeland on her head and is on a mission to deviously separate two best friends by retiring them for good. Cope and Cage will get their revenge, make FTR say “I Quit,” and have one last run before hanging up their boots. Willow Nightingale was originally scheduled to battle Alex Windsor in her home state of NY for the Owen Hart Quarterfinals. However, she sustained a right shoulder injury in her match with Red Velvet on Collision. Henceforth, she had to drop out of the tournament and even relinquish the TBS Title. AEW scrapped that match and replaced it with another Owen Hart Tourney match. Technically, Athena has been ROH Women’s Champion for 1,250 days and should maintain her credibility by not losing in the first round of this tournament. However, Mina Shirakawa is still trying to figure out who heinously attacked her love interest, Toni Storm. The top suspects seem to be Triangles of Madness, so Shirakawa has a motive to win this tournament and dethrone Thekla at All In.
Kazuchika Okada and Konosuke Takeshita have had beef in the Don Callis Family for months. They have failed to co-exist in high-stakes tag matches and have constantly thrown middle fingers at each other. Now, Takeshita can finally dethrone Okada to solidify his departure from the family, but Okada defies storyline logic and always wins, just like Roman Reigns on a typical Sunday PPV. Bandido has had a plethora of opportunities to showcase his potential in the main event scene ever since losing the tag team titles with Brody King. However, those “rubs” he had against MJF won’t be enough to defeat former World Champ Swerve Strickland in the first round of this tournament. Swerve still has to regain momentum after losing his shot at the World Title against Kenny Omega. This title match is a callback to when Kyle O’ Reilly made Jon Moxley tap out twice in 2025. This feud was put on hold since O’Reilly dealt with a broken arm injury that kept him off TV for months before returning to win the trios titles with the Conglomeration at AEW Dynasty in April. With no time limit, Moxley will not tap out again and thereby solidify his leadership of the Death Riders.
