WWE Champion Cody Rhodes returned to SmackDown last week to save Randy Orton from getting his head Claymored through a table by Drew McIntyre. Rhodes immediately challenged McIntyre to a match at Wrestlepalooza, and the title is on the line.  It looks like Tiffany Stratton is supposed to defend her WWE women’s championship in a 3-way match against Jade Cargill and Nia Jax at Wrestlepalooza , but the champ might not be cleared to compete this weekend after smacking her head on the ground on a moonsault last week.

This is actually Cody’s first title defense since winning the belt almost 50 days ago. He’s essentially been an absentee champion up to this point while taking time off from WWE to welcome his new baby and fire off Sonic Booms in the Street Fighter movie. But now Cody is back, and he’s bringing his ass to SmackDown tonight. Drew wants a piece of that ass, so he’s getting exactly what he wants tonight and at Wrestlepalooza when the belt is up for grabs. Sami Zayn’s United States championship open challenge will be answered tonight by Carmelo Hayes. The Miz isn’t too happy about Carmelo prioritizing singles gold over their tag team.
