The Bell Centre in Montreal, Canada, will be rocking as they host the first WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event of 2026! There have been so many great WWE moments that happened in the “Great White North,” and there’s about to be more this coming January 24, 2026, for WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event XLIII!
Rhea Ripley and IYO SKY, affectionately called Team RHIYO, began 2026 in style on the Raw on Netflix Anniversary Show, taking down Asuka and Kairi Sane of The Kabuki Warriors to become WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions. Less than three weeks after they won the titles, SKY and Ripley already have their hands full as Liv Morgan and Roxanne Perez of The Judgment Day are in the hunt for gold, and they’ve set their sights on the WWE Women’s Tag Titles. Both teams had similar situations; SKY and Ripley were once rivals fighting over the WWE Women’s World Title, and Morgan and Perez were trying to wrestle control of The Judgment Day. Now, both pairings have one goal in mind, and that’s to be the best the division has to offer. Whoever wins this one can call themselves the flag-bearers of the women’s tag division. Still, someone will already be waiting in the wings as teams like Alexa Bliss and Charlotte Flair, Giulia and Kiana James, Nia Jax and Lash Legend, as well as the former champions, The Kabuki Warriors, are chomping at the bit to challenge whoever comes out on top.
It’s crazy to think that these two once stood beside each other in a war against Solo Sikoa and his MFT. Of course, it’s also no surprise that they’re going into battle with one another, considering that the “Samoan Werewolf” Jacob Fatu is a loose cannon and will stop at nothing to cause destruction once he thinks he has been wronged in some way shape or form, and that’s precisely what happened to Cody Rhodes, even though he wasn’t directly involved. In Germany, in a 3 Stages of Hell Match, Cody Rhodes was on the verge of retaining the Undisputed WWE Championship, as he and McIntyre were knotted up at one a piece with the final fall in a Steel Cage Match deciding who’ll walk away with the gold. Unfortunately for Rhodes, McIntyre was in the crosshairs of Fatu.
Months ago, Fatu was taken out of commission by a “mystery assailant.” That said, Jacob Fatu is convinced that Drew McIntyre was the one behind the assault, leading to Fatu’s attack in Germany. Rhodes was collateral damage as Fatu would also throw hands with the “American Nightmare,” which ultimately ended with Drew McIntyre becoming Undisputed WWE Champion. Rhodes did not make up excuses; he’s focused on earning a WWE Title shot by any means. But also, Rhodes wants the head of Jacob Fatu on a stake, and Fatu was more than willing to see Cody try, which led to a massive brawl and the sanctioning of this Grudge Match.
