Cody Rhodes retained the WWE championship at Wrestlepalooza, so now he’s officially set to face World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins at Crown Jewel in Australia. The extremely gaudy Crown Jewel championship is on the line, which Cody already won last year when it debuted in Saudi Arabia. Rhodes and Rollins confronted each other about it over the weekend, while holding up their respective belts that will not be on the line at Crown Jewel. The match is in less than three weeks and these guys are on different brands, so it’s not clear how much they will be crossing over onto each other’s show to build to their title fight, if at all.

Seth’s plate is already full, and he won’t be happy when he shows up tonight on Raw. That’s because CM Punk and AJ Lee proved to be the best husband/wife duo in WWE when AJ forced Becky Lynch to tap out in their mixed tag team match at Wrestlepalooza. There’s a very good chance that Lee will now be gunning for Lynch’s women’s Intercontinental championship, while Punk will do the same for Seth’s gold. Those titles actually mean something, so it’s understandable if the Crown Jewel championship is a secondary concern for Rollins when he addresses what happened at Wrestlepalooza tonight. Rollins and Rhodes haven’t fought against each other on PLE in over three years. It was back in 2022 when Rhodes made a splash in WWE by beating Seth on three PLEs, including Cody’s WrestleMania return and the famous torn pec Hell in a Cell match. Rhodes has Seth’s number, so it will be interesting to see how much that comes up while WWE is promoting their Crown Jewel match.
