Raw airs tonight (July 28) with a live show from Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, Michigan. This is the final episode of Raw during the three week build to SummerSlam, which takes place this weekend (Aug. 2 and 3).

SummerSlam is a two-night card, but it still feels like spots on the show are somewhat limited given just how big WWE’s roster is. Just go ask the megastar LA Knight about that. At any rate, it was two weeks ago when WWE Hall of Famer Nikki Bella beat Chelsea Green in a match where she definitely didn’t botch the finish. However, Bella followed up on that win by not getting booked on last week’s show, so she currently doesn’t have a match at SummerSlam. On her podcast, Bella said she doesn’t think WWE plans to book her at SummerSlam, but she remains hopeful that she will find her way onto the card. With that in mind, Bella is back in action tonight on the go home episode of Raw. She is teaming up with Stephanie Vaquer, Rhea Ripley, and IYO SKY in an 8-woman tag team match against Chelsea Green, the Secret Hervice (Piper Niven & Alba Fyre), and Women’s World Champion Naomi. On paper, the primary purpose of this match seems related to advancing the story for Ripley, SKY, and Naomi as they get ready for their triple threat title match at SummerSlam. However, it will be interesting to see if there is some kind of angle here for Bella that gives a hint of who she will be feuding with next, perhaps for a match at Clash at Paris, if not SummerSlam.

Finn Balor and JD McDonagh defend the world tag team championship tonight against the the LWO’s Cruz Del Toro & Joaquin Wilde. WWE is essentially throwing a bone to the challengers by giving them this match after a year of booking that says they probably shouldn’t even sniff a title shot. It would be a shock if the LWO actually pulls off the upset and become new champions tonight. Jey Uso vs. Bronson Reed is also booked on tonight’s card. This match is here to whet the appetite for what’s to come at SummerSlam when Jey teams up with Roman Reigns to take on Reed and Bron Breakker. Roman is also set to appear on tonight’s show, but that doesn’t necessarily mean he’ll get his own talking segment. Perhaps the OTC will show up here as part of a post-match angle to fight off the Paul Heyman Guys when they try to gang up on Uso.

Lyra Valkyria laid out Women’s Intercontinental Champion Becky Lynch last week after accepting The Man’s proposal about never challenging for the title again if she loses at SummerSlam. AJ Styles doesn’t have to dress up in disguise anymore now that the cowardly Dominik Mysterio is cleared to defend the Intercontinental Championship against him at SummerSlam. But after Dirty Dom ambushed Styles from behind last week, maybe AJ should find one more clever way to remain hidden in the background tonight so he can get the jump on that little shithead when he least expects it. Karrion Kross cheated with a steel pipe behind the referee’s back to pick up a win against Sami Zayn last week. They’ll go at it one more time at SummerSlam, so maybe it’s appropriate to up the ante for their PLE match.
