Raw airs tonight (June 9) with a live show from PHX Arena in Phoenix, Arizona. This is the first episode of Raw during the three week build towards Night of Champions, which takes place on June 28 in Saudi Arabia.

Jey Uso defends the world heavyweight championship tonight against GUNTHER. This is a rematch from WrestleMania 41, where Uso won the belt by forcing GUNTHER to tap out. It was actually four weeks ago when the Ring General announced he’d be challenging for the world title on June 9, which immediately got the rumor mill going about the potential return of Goldberg for his WWE retirement match this summer.

There is an episode of Saturday Night’s Main Event coming up in Goldberg’s hometown of Atlanta on July 12, and Goldberg has an unresolved issue with GUNTHER going back to last year’s Bad Blood event. Putting two and two together, it makes all the sense in the world for Goldberg’s big return angle to happen tonight during or after GUNTHER’s title match to set up a fight between them on July 12. That’s the same date as AEW All Texas, so of course WWE would love to stick it to AEW by booking Goldberg’s final career match that night. Just because this idea seems to make a lot of sense doesn’t mean it will actually happen, though. The only way to find out for sure if Goldberg’s retirement angle is finally upon us is to tune into Raw tonight to see if he returns to ruin whatever nefarious scheme GUNTHER has in mind to win the world title back from Jey.

The King & Queen of the Ring tournament matches begin tonight, with the opening round consisting of 4-way matches. WWE needs to reveal the full brackets tonight. The winners of the tournament earn a world title match at SummerSlam, so I expect to see Rhea Ripley make a deep run. The most interesting case of all might be CM Punk. WWE Champion John Cena is scheduled to appear on Raw after R-Truth Ron Killings made his surprise return at Money in the Bank to cost Cena his match. Seth Rollins will also be in the house after winning the Money in the Bank contract over the weekend. Rollins is sure to be more obnoxious than ever now that he wields so much power, especially with the Two Bron Power Trip by his side.
