Raw airs tonight (May 12) with a live show from KFC Yum! Center in Louisville, Kentucky. This is the first episode of Raw during the four week build towards Money in the Bank, which takes place on June 7.

But AEW doesn’t get to have all the fun when it comes to dream matches. Tonight’s episode of Raw features AJ Styles vs. Finn Balor, which according to commentator Michael Cole, “many would consider a dream match-up.” This dream match of Balor vs. Styles is too sweet and has happened at least three other times on WWE programming, according to the data at CageMatch, most recently on an episode of SmackDown in 2023. They are going at it this time because Styles wants to take the Intercontinental championship away from Balor’s stablemate, Dominik Mysterio. Dirty Dom is feeling the pressure of having the big target on his back as champion, so he asked Finn to take care of AJ for him. At first Balor wasn’t too happy about cleaning up Dirty Dom’s mess, but then he changed his tune and said of course he’ll handle it.

Finn’s word isn’t all that reassuring considering what happened when his attempt to help Dom beat Penta at Backlash almost backfired. It looked like Balor tried to sabotage the Judgment Day’s plan to save Dirty Dom’s title reign, because he’s pissed off about Mysterio pinning him to win the title at WrestleMania. With that in mind, Balor may very well want Styles to earn a title match against Dom and take that belt away from him. Penta failed to win the Intercontinental title at Backlash thanks to interference from El Grande Americano. Rhea Ripley and Women’s World Champion IYO SKY team up tonight to take on the duo of Giulia and Roxanne Perez.

GUNTHER is probably done targeting WWE announcers after he put Pat McAfee to sleep at Backlash.  Becky Lynch’s feud with Women’s Intercontinental Champion Lyra Valkyria will likely continue even though Lyra beat The Man at Backlash, because Becky was a sore loser who tried to injure Valkyria after the match was over. Sheamus returned to Raw last week with a win over that jabroni Austin Theory. WWE Champion John Cena isn’t currently advertised for Raw, so we may have to wait a little longer to see what the next step is in his diabolical plan to ruin wrestling for everyone. Cena is scheduled for Money in the Bank, so maybe someone on the Raw roster will speak up tonight and make it known that they want the next shot at the last real champion.
