WWE NXT is back with the Great American Bash premium live event on Saturday (July 12). It will be the brand’s sixth time using the GAB name, but just the second time it’s used it for a PLE. The show comes our way from Center Stage at a matinee start time of 3 p.m. Eastern. This year’s Bash will feature three title matches, a tag match previewing another at Evolution, a contract signing for the next TNA World championship, and more!
The challenger, who is in NXT on an excursion from Japan’s Pro Wrestling NOAH, has moral support from NOAH legends and in-person support from tag partner Josh Briggs. He’ll need all that and more if he hopes to dethrone The Ruler, who has six successful defenses to his credit since capturing the belt at New Year’s Evil. Oba Femi might be the Ruler, but Yoshiki Inamura is the perfect man. Just the most dude-in-est dude you can dudely dude. And he’s got a buddy! Like c’mon, a perfect specimen of manhood with his best bro that he came back to NXT for at his side, AND he’s got Great Muta and Naomichi Marufuji cheering him on. Oba’s not losing the championship here, but hopefully he and Inamura give us a fun match that shows there’s room for someone else atop the main event pecking order. This will go a long way to reboot the men’s division, which really needs a jolt in the arm.
The North American Championship will be on the line in an all-out war, as Ethan Page defends against the relentless Ricky Saints in a Falls Count Anywhere match. Page stunned the NXT Universe when he snatched the title from Saints in one of the year’s most shocking upsets. Since then, he’s hidden behind The Vanity Project, forcing Saints to fight through obstacles just to get close to him. Saints, driven by revenge and unfinished business, ran the gauntlet against Page’s stooges and demanded this no-rules stipulation, ensuring Page can’t run or hide this time. With the entire arena fair game, chaos is guaranteed, and Saints seems ready to thrive in it.
