Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) happens THIS MORNING (Sat., Oct. 25, 2025) with UFC 321 live from inside Etihad Arena, Abu Dhabi, UAE, and streaming LIVE on ESPN+ PPV. The main event is Tom Aspinall vs. Ciryl Gane for the UFC Heavyweight title. This is the first UFC Heavyweight title fight since Jon Jones beat Stipe Miocic in November, 2024. The semi-retired Jones will be watching this one as he continues to campaign for a UFC White House date. Rounding out the stacked main card is Umar Nurmagomedov vs. Mario Bautista, Alexander Volkov vs. Jailton Almeida and Aleksandar Rakic vs. Azamat Murzakanov. UFC 321’s “Prelims” are headlined by Nasrat Haqparast vs. Quillan Salkilld. The “Prelims” also have Ikram Aliskerov vs. Jun Yong Park, Ludovit Klein vs. Mateusz Rebecki, Abdul-Kareem Al-Selwady vs. Matheus Camilo, Valter Walker vs. Louie Sutherland, Nathaniel Wood vs. Jose Delgado, Hamdy Abdelwahab vs. Chris Barnett, Azat Maksum vs. Mitch Raposo and Jaqueline Amorim vs. Mizuki Inoue. So, before UFC 321’s PPV action begins at 2 p.m. ET tonight right, coverage of the entire UFC 321 “Prelims” undercard below, beginning with the first fight at 10 a.m. ET this morning on Disney+/ESPN+/FX. Again, we are covering UFC 321’s PPV main card in a separate thread right here, beginning at 2 p.m. ET.
Based on his majestic mane alone, it’s tempting to pick Volkov. You can see him replicating what Blaydes did to beat Almeida, stuffing the Brazilian’s signature takedown against the fence and battering him with elbows. But Volkov isn’t Blaydes when it comes to takedown defense and even Blaydes was put on his back and at first before finding the win in Round 2. If Volkov ends up in the same kind of trouble, he’s going to have trouble recovering. I have concerns about Almeida’s cardio as he’s rarely fought past the first round and the one time he did in the UFC, it was against Lewis in a bout where Almeida was in complete control for 25 minutes. Volkov has so much more experience, that could be the difference in the final frame.
Aspinall, who would most likely be 9-0 inside of the Octagon if he hadn’t suffered a nasty knee injury against Curtis Blaydes, is defending his UFC heavyweight title for the second time since winning the interim belt back in Nov. 2023 (he was later promoted to undisputed champion). The well-rounded English star has looked downright unstoppable since his UFC debut over five years ago. Aspinall may have missed out on his chance(s) to fight Jon Jones for ultimate heavyweight glory, but his impressive UFC resume has been growing nonetheless. Along the way, Aspinall has picked up some serious highlight-reel finishes. This includes quick knockouts, dominating submissions, and title-winning efforts. All in all, Aspinall has finished each and every one of his eight UFC fights to date and all 15 of his pro MMA wins. The 6’5” heavyweight is a walking wrecking machine.
Alexander Volkov is several notches above that level of opposition. He did enough to beat Gane and arguably should be in Saturday’s main event, but instead he’s playing gatekeeper to the top 5 against one of the most dangerous fighters in the division. That’s nothing new for the towering Volkov, who has spoiled many a contenders rise to the top. Based on his majestic mane alone, it’s tempting to pick Volkov. If it’s Aleksandar Rakic who gets the win, it will be because he’s had a much stronger strength of schedule than Murzakanov. No, Rakic hasn’t won a fight since 2021, with much of his time lost to injury. But he’s also been in there with the best of the best, suffering consecutive losses to Magomed Ankalaev, Jiri Prochazka, and Jan Blachowicz (who he suffered a knee injury against). Those are three UFC light heavyweight champions, folks.
